Year of the Rabbit

2011 is the year of the rabbit in this part of the word and recently all around town rabbits have been popping up or is that hopping about.
Anyway, I've read that a "rabbit year" is supposed to be a peaceful one where focus is placed on home and family values, so should be smooth sailing, but then again I also read that rats (my sign) and rabbits are not compatible. What to expect?
Have a great weekend
PS. The flower bunnies are from Orchard Road

PS. Moving on to monkeys. How do they fare with rats? Enough about astrology, Oscar & I spent the afternoon at the zoo and just wanted to share my cool pic with you

Calligraphy 101

We decided that it would be fun to take Mandarin classes "en famille" once a week and it is but we are all having a hard time getting beyond Nihao (hello) and other basic phrases. The thing is that Mandarin is so different from any other language that we know, so we struggle to remember our phrases from one week to the next. During the week, the kids and I have fun testing our very basic Mandarin with the very friendly cashier of our local Cold Storage. This Saturday our teacher introduced us to basic calligraphy skills and basically it's just as complicated as our Mandarin 101, except maybe for our in-house artist Rose.

Hong Kong for a day

Left the family and took off early Monday morning for a little escapade to
Hong Kong.
Felt great to land in 11 C weather and roam the streets of this metropolis on my own.
Whilst there go to check out the HK Toy fair - trying to get started on a project that I have in mind. Will keep you posted.

Night Safari

Back out on the town exploring more children's activities
Night Safari was definitely a big hit with our children - they loved going out past their bedtime & taking the train ride to see the animals.
We're already planning our next visit. No show next time - we're heading straight to the bat cave as per Oscar's request.

Pool lounging

No more snowstorms for us and negative temperatures
we're back to our good singaporean habits of spending sunny afternoons at the club.
And as for Zoé who said she didn't want to come back here, I don't think she's looking too miserable. Wouldn't you agree?

Back in Town

HAPPY NEW YEAR
We're back in Singapore after a two week holiday spent at home with friends & family.
We enjoyed the cold weather, skiing, fondues, chocolate, wearing down jackets, snow covered mountains, cheap good french wine, swiss fendant, Christmas turkey & rösti...
but despite hectic traveling & running noses
what we enjoyed most was spending time with all of you.
