Bonnes Vacances

Afternoon stroll at the Botanical Garden
School year is ending this week and some of our favorite "Singaporeans" are already heading back west for the summer holidays. Over lunch yesterday, with the kids, we were discussing their last week at school and the girls couldn't believe that it was over so soon. Don't they say that time flies when you're having a good time. We have all loved our Singaporean experience so far. Soon it will be our time to go back home for the holidays and I can't wait for the kids to share their Singaporean experiences with friends and family, but most of all we're all happy to go back, for a month, to the place we call home.

Catch of the day

Like father like son...
Looks like my boy shares his Dad's fishing hobby.
Then again, he only caught one lousy prawn. No dinner for us tonight.
Hope we'll have better luck this summer at our favorite fishing spot: lac Champex.
Fishing action here in Singapore happening at East Coast.
Wishing you better luck than us.

Playing tourist at the Raffles

Zoros at the Raffles

Being an expat has meant to us being perpetual tourists in our new home, Singapore. Even after 10 months of living here we enjoy seeing the sights and exploring our "new" city. Lonely Planet and Time Out copies are never far away.
However, have noticed that my Zoros are growing tired of my perpetual exploration weekend plans and these days there's nothing they like more than hanging at home on the weekends, especially now that our Ikea showroom is feeling quite comfy.

We all scream for Zoku Pops

Check out my super cool birthday present from Bonbon - a Zoku quick pop-maker.
Now we have homemade pops every day and in this Singapore weather it's just the thing we needed.
Today was reggae style pops and tomorrow we're trying fresh mango pops.
Tout un programme. Expat mom all the way.

Cheers to P

P drinking it up at the Screening Room

P is moving back today to our hometown after having lived abroad for the past 5 years.
She was my expat mom expert and gave me lots of good advice before our move to Singapore.
Anyway, even though she's really happy about going home, I thought this recipe could come in handy in the next few days to give her move a little sling.

Singapore Sling Recipe

30ml Gin.
15 ml Cherry Brandy.
120 ml Pineapple Juice.
15 ml Lime Juice.
7.5 ml Cointreau.
7.5 ml Dom Benedictine.
10 ml Grenadine.
a dash of Angostura Bitters (say what?)
Mix all of the above with ice
Garnish with a slice of Pineapple and Cherry
                                                             et voilĂ ....

  • PS. P, Look forward to the day when we'll be countryside neighboors sipping our exotic cocktails & reminiscing our expat lives together.

    Lazy Soccer/Expat Mom

Oops, 3 months have gone by since my last post. Have been fielding complaints. Apologies for my laziness. Anyway, going to try to be a more regular blogger and keep you up to date on my Zoros and our Singapore adventures. For starters, a recent pic of the Zoros in Duxton Hill last friday. Checked out a fun show at Chan Hampe Gallery, of my favorite galleries here. Like that Cham Hampe shows young emerging Singaporean based artists, including my personal favorite: Izziyana Suhaimi.
